Way back in the beginning of this thread, I said that I felt there was validity to the charges because black men are so reluctant to admit homosexuality. This week I read on CNN.com or USAToday.com about entertainers who had come out. They listed 22 people, only one, Wanda Sykes, who was black. What's up with that?

Did it mean that these 22 people had recently come out? There are tons more than 22 entertainers who are gay and out, and that includes many gay black entertainers.

Maybe the list only included people of a certain amount of fame...one actor immediately came to mind is Daryl Stevens of "Noah's Arc" Darryl Stephens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Others I thought of are RuPaul, Alice Walker, and Alvin Ailey - all very famous out black entertainers.

Yep...The brothas afraid to lose their fanbase. I respect real gay dudes for being real and honest. The undercover guys are shady. A gay rapper or R&B star would sell in this country. LGBT community has money, they have opinions & interest why the entertainment industry avoiding them?? Especially in Atlanta.

I remember reading or hearing about an out gay rapper that had done some decent work, but I can't remember his name.

I know he is just a character but Omar on The Wire was such a powerful image it's hard to not to think of him as real.
