I can't argue with the idea that ATP folks are very well situated in today's Atlanta. If we have a "Main Street" it is probably the northern arc of I-285. The notion that ITP/OTP somehow delineates urban from suburban has always been shaky to begin with. Most of the city of Atlanta is quite suburban in form and that is even more the case with most of ITP DeKalb.

I read the article and thought it was interesting, but my problem is it's just another attempt to label and delineate another part of metro Atlanta from the other. OTP, ITP, ATP? What the $@&!

I mean, why wouldn't you just say, "I live in Dunwoody ... Sandy Springs ... " Whatever? Rather than using another pointless general label that requires even MORE explanation? It's not like those places don't already have unique identities of their own and everybody knows where they are.

Where is Adamsville?

Adamsville is roughly where MLK Drive crosses I-285.

It is a part of the City of Atlanta.

I can't ever see anybody in Adamsville or Cascade ever saying "I live ATP." Nor would anybody who lives in Vinings say that. If you're shallow enough to pay inflated prices for a stupid Vinings address in Smyrna, you're gonna say you live in Vinings.

Also thought the article was really good and interesting
I would also consider Norcross to be on this list.

Yes, and what about "Perimeter Center"? Taken literally, there is no such thing as the center of a perimeter. I took a class on suburban sprawl in high school and the author of the book we read (Andres Duany - Suburban Nation) was particularly harsh on Atlanta. He said "Perimeter Center is a perfect example of Atlanta having no 'sense of place'" or something like that. He just couldnt stand that we would name an area after something that doesnt exist. I dont think he wanted to realize that "center" is a common suburban development name, like "place" or "square".

Either way, I like the name Perimeter, though it does show its age. But I wouldnt use it like the article did, unless I was actually referring to Perimeter, as in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody ("Perimeter Center").

I dont think you can be ITP and ATP at the same time, unless the city is both ITP and OTP. I think ATP and ITP are mututally exclusive. ATP is more like a subset of OTP. Of course, that's just my interpretation.

Actually most of the College Park city limits is ITP just like Vinings...I'm not sure if neighborhood ITP would want to be considered ATP?
