1. Budget - Up to 1k a month, maybe little more. Would like a gym, pool as part of the building.
2. House/Condo/Townhome? - Looking to rent an apartment in a building (studio or 1 bed)
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) 30 minutes or less is ideal, commuting to downtown atlanta, near peachtree street. Car or public trans is fine.
4. Children(public school vs. private) N/A
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two.
Coming from city life in the north east, looking for more urban. Nature trails, biking, boating etc... a nice relaxing area. But a place that still is accessible to some nightlife, as im in my 20's.
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? Would be nice, but not so important if the drive to work is within about 30 minutes or less.
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood.
As long as there are some 20s and 30s people there, that works. A mix of all ages is fine.

You sound like the perfect candidate to rent a distressed condo in Midtown.

How would Midtown compare to something like Roswell?

Midtown- young urban professionals
Roswell- old(er) urban professionals that got married, had kids, and needs more room, better schools, and a quieter atmosphere.
At least that's one way to look at it!

Midtown is alright but I think it's overrated for anyone who isn't a gay male or a young woman who has a Sex and the City fantasy. I am neither and I lived there for about a year. It was alright but not worth the hassle at times. It definitely has that big city/tall building feel but honestly most of the nightlife in the immediate area was not my cup of tea. I wasn't trendy enough I suppose.

I would consider Vinings or Smyna if I were you. The Chattahoochee river is nearby and offers plenty of trails and boating. You can also hop on 75 to 575 and be in the mountains in less than an hour on the weekends. There are some ok bars in the area. No real entertainment districts but there are some popular watering holes that get packed. Roswell is a good option too but a bit further out.

ProMove apartment locator service is another option.

Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (U.S. National Park Service)

Sandy Springs or Norcross might be good options too. You have a lake on either the northwest or northeast side about 30-45 minutes up the road as well. You have a little bit better access to Marta in Sandy Springs if that's something you are considering. There are several stations in the area.

Where are you moving from if you don't mind me asking?
