I was recently hired @ Emory University Hospital as a data analyst. I graduate in December from The University of Alabama and have been looking at some places. I really like midtown, but I'm not sure if it's for me or not. I don't "party" and it might be a waste to live there when I could live somewhere else. I currently drive 20 minutes to campus everyday, so I really don't care about driving distance that much, but obviously Midtown is attractive for the close proximity to where I'll be working.

I do want to meet people and establish a network, and again Midtown seems like a great opportunity for that, but I'm sure there are other places.

I'm a very frugal person, but most prices I've seen are pretty cheap. If I can find a good place for under $700/mo I'll be pretty happy.

Will you be working at the main campus?

The area just north of Emory/Clifton Rd--Briarcliff/LaVista/North Druid Hills would offer an alternative. This is the Toco Hill area. Va Highland is about 10 minutes away for restaurants and entertainment options.

You could contact ProMove Apartment Locator service for assistance in identifying housing options in your price range---there are a number of apartment complexes in the area.

In general the area is safe and stable---many enjoy walking, running and cycling. Easy access to I85 and the City of Decatur is about 15 minutes away--more shops and restaurants.

If your a male get the partyness out of your system before you get married. You may not do it now but in all males there' something lurking beneath. Tame that beast now or it's going to come out later in life.

This is the best advice here: talking to an apartment locator service.

If you want something for 700 or less in Midtown, you get a roommate for a 2BR or you can rent from someone's house who has a basement or attic apartment. A 1 BR place in Midtown for that price is very hard to find unless it is an older place, or the area intown could have more crime / high utilities. Most decent 1BR apartments in Midtown are over 800 a month or so. You could probably locate a condo to rent, too. Most condo places would probably more quieter for your likings, but I am sure that varies, too. I don't have specific recommendations, but you should be able to find something with more searching.
