What they need is to build a downtown connector over the bridges over the downtown connector to help traffic

Stacked highways a la Chicago! Take it from me, stacked highways make it very easy to get lost and miss your exit. Though, they do look impressive and make a city look way urban! Let's go for it! Hell, I have a GPS!

I just got back from a trip to Chicago and the GPS in the rental car just couldn't deal with the stacked roads. It got so confused and had us going in circles! After that I'll never use a GPS again! I'll stick to Googlemaps!

lol mine did the same thing in Manhattan. All of the highrises made it impossible for the GPS satellites to get a lock on my location and heading so the map on the screen would literally spin! I eventually gave up on it and got my bearings the old fashioned way, with street signs.

P.S. never drive in Manhattan. It's one of the most stressful experiences of my life... and I was driving around at 1 in the morning! People (mostly cab drivers) throw the rules of the road out the window and the NYPD doesn't even care.

Believe it or not, the DOT has considered it.

Along with the totally insane local version of the "Big Dig" tunnel under the Eastside!

Thanks, the park over the connector concept is terrific, even if light rail is a long way off. It's a nice way to incorporate greenspace and make Midtown/Atlantic Station/Tech more cohesive.

I was driving yesterday on the Connector in through Midtown and I had that rendering in my head. It made me realize how huge the gash really is between east and west, and how surreal it would be to bridge the gap and bring them together. It's so weird to think that at one time there was no divide, because the Connector is just an unpleasant reality.

Does anyone know how we advocate for this idea? It doesn't really fit under the Beltline's umbrella.

Since it's park-ish, it wouldn't be a private venture, right?

So whom to contact, I wonder? I'd love to know if this is still being considered.

You are very correct. They would explode. :-)
