Its funny because I just did that for my girlfriend like a week ago. Using Wells Fargo as an example there are many businesses who avoid the HOOD just altogether. Google maps definitely exposes that.

Still no Whole Foods or Chipotle south of I-20 yet.

Very true. However, you do see tons of grocery stores in south DeKalb.

On another note, here's something positive for the southside. I don't know why the food trucks don't go south on a regular basis.

They're just scared to go to the hood. I don't agree with it but i'll admit that I understand it.

I guess no one's considered that it might be because of the economic state of the area..?

But even poor people need to have good food. If they've got EBT cards then they should be okay for grocery shopping.

Do you think most poor people buy $100-200 worth of groceries every week and spend money on high margin items like organics and specialty foods?

No, but that doesn't mean you can't benefit from shopping at a nice store like Kroger or Publix. We probably don't spend more than $75 a week on groceries, but then we are pretty frugal.

I'm not sure you understand my point. I don't mean that poor people don't like grocery stores. What I'm saying is, if no one is spending large amounts of money on high margin items, how do you think a store like Kroger or Publix is going to cover its operating expenses?

Sorry I didn't get your point -- I'm afraid I know nothing about the grocery business.

I thought grocery stores could make it just selling regular food.
