Well... at least they will employ 400 cashiers, 1 grounds keeper, 5000 cops to keep the rift raft away and all of exactly 1 educated tour guide to run the place.

i guess we can't complain about creating jobs when everything is going broke. take em as they come eh

HUH?! What? The people who comment on this site simply astound sometimes ...

(p.s. -- kudos to N-R ... this is the first example I've heard of them being a good corporate citizen since relocating to ATL. Guess they were looking for the right cause, and this one is a good one.)

Well, if nothing else, they'll get a year or so of good PR for "committing" $500k to a project that still doesn't have the rest of the funding it needs, and will likely not get that funding for quite some time. I'm really not trying to be a nay-sayer, but given the amount of $$ needed to build that place the way the winning design is drawn, it's going to take a miracle to get it funded in today's economic climate.

I'm not so sure about corporate philanthropy. Newell Rubbermaid is a publicly traded company. How would their shareholders feel about it? How does this "cause" align with the company's goals?

Civil and Human Rights go hand-in-hand with Rubbermaid products...right!

i see you haven't been doing a lot of visiting to downtown venues..... public or private. everybody else knows that this is how things are done there. 400:1:500

aka 400 cashiers to get $, 1 person with education to pretend to run the place, 500 cops all around to protect the people. aquarium, coca cola, botanical, high mus etc. ALL follow this formula.

you are welcome.

Just a random thought cityrover - but have you ever considered moving to Montana, Wyoming or North Dakota?

I have a gut feeling you might just find true happiness in those locales......

^Delta is ready when you are, and the Interstates seem to be pretty free-flowing.
