Hello Everyone!

I am a single mom with 2 young children who is looking to relocate from Michigan to a nice, safe, affordable, medium-sized and racially-mixed community. Easy access to transportation, stores, hospitals and other businesses are also important to me. Can anyone give me any info on Cascade, GA? Are there additional communities that may fit my criteria?

I am also semi-disabled and walk with a cane due to a spinal cord injury. I do not currently own a car, so good public transportation is also essential. Any information on area elementary and middle schools would also be helpful.

I eagerly look forward to all responses. Many advance thanks!!!

Sincerely,

LinDiamond

Cascade is a really nice, growing area a few minutes south of Atlanta and close to the airport. The area is upper middle class and is primarily black. AS far as public transit goes, there is a bus service and I believe Marta (subway system) has a stop near there, but Atlanta as a whole isn't that great on public transit.

Cascade doesn't have a train station nearby. The closest one os about 15-20 minutes from the area. One bus serves the area riding along Cascade Road. It doesn't go into the moe posh areas of Cascade Rd. on the outside of the perimeter though. You should look into Marta paratransit which serves every inch of Fulton and Dekalb...they pick up disabled people and shuttle them around town. Or maybe you should look into moving into the city. Public transit and suburban living don't mix in Atlanta.
