1. Budget, $1200/month max
2. House/Condo/Townhome? any
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) husband will be traveling would need to be within 30-45 minutes of airport
4. Children(public school vs. private) No children
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two: Urban, but nothing "up and coming". We love city living and would like a neighborhood considered stable.
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? does MARTA go to airport? Would need easy access to airport, prefer to be close to public transit
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. We are looking for a neighborhood that is very walkable, great location, in the city Right now we live in a very diverse neighborhood in St Louis, would be looking for about the same.
8. Can you tell me about the weather? How it is typically in each season?
9. I would probably be looking for employment at area Universities, what are the best schools in the area?

kennesaw is a nice place to live, i would not recommend living in atl because the traffic is crazy and the city is filled with rude southerners

Hey - some suggestions:

You should be able to get a condo in Midtown or Buckhead that is reasonably close to Marta for around $1200 - $1300 a month. Not one of the new high rises, but an older (1990s) building. As far as walking and such, Midtown is better than Buckhead. There are Marta stops in Midtown that will take you straight to the airport in 30 minutes. The weather is IMHO one of teh best aspects of the city. Yes, it gets hot in the summer, but its not bad at night, and it doesn't get crazy cold in the winter like in the Midwest. There are some top notch schools here - Emory, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Mercer, Oglethorpe, Kennesaw State to name a few.

Best of luck and hope I answered your questions!

Houston, TX might be a better bet. Do your research.

Midtown and Va Highland are good options.

You might also wish to consider the city of Decatur.
City of Decatur, GA

Go Here for an overview>>>
//www.city-data.com/forum/atlan...t-decatur.html

There are a number of previous threads about Decatur and locating housing in Decatur--youcan 'Search'---go to the top of the page/Right side and click 'Advanced Search'--keyword=Decatur.
It is very walkable-- a number of small shops and good restaurants. About 6 miles from downtown Atlanta--there is a MARTA station there. The city/community sponsors festivals and activities throughout the year.

Agnes Scot College and Emory University are located in this area--only a few miles to Emory from Decatur.

Weather---Moderate spring and fall --April-June and September-Nov/December.
Hot and humid for most of July, August and or early September. Some snow/ice during the winter. ie---Atlanta received 1-3 inches of snow/ice while the NE had a blizzard.

I've heard that 'friendliness' is often a 2 way street.

lol--'The locals' --so many people have relocated here from many other places that I guess the only assumption that can be made is that hopefully the majority of residents are well-intended?
