My spouse, a veteran Canadian winter driver, drove from our home in East Cobb/Roswell to the Sandy Springs MARTA station early this morning, en route to the airport. He reported by phone that the roads weren't good and what he couldn't believe was all the drivers in big pickups and SUVs barreling along as if it was summer. He commented that they presumably imagine that because they have a large vehicle they're immune to the possibility of spinning out.

Hills and inclines will be tough for many people.

I am amazed at the *******s driving fast and using no signals, no lights and just acting like children out on the road.

Saw quite a few stuck cars and even a car that hit a fire hydrant.
Some people don't adjust their driving style to fit the conditions. It isn't just a southern thing, either ... the first snow of the year in many northern or midwestern cities requires some adjustment, and you will see a lot of the same stupidity. Maybe some people need to hit a few things before they realize they need to slow down...?

Yup, I've seen that in MN as well ... people get a new AWD vehicle or a larger one, and seem to think that the additional weight and hgiher center of gravity somehow makes them immune to physics.

Most of the folks I've actually seen do 360's and such up there were in pickup trucks or SUVs. Ice can teach some very serious lessons in a hurry ... a larger vehicle means more time to stop, and while AWD or 4WD is nice, ice doesn't care about such things ... once you start sliding, it's game over until you hit a surface which provides more traction.

Yea...and hit a tractable surface going at enough of a perpendicular angle and with enough speed and your truck or SUV can *easily* flip.

Is that the North Springs station Rainy? Two people have told me the entrance ramp to that off of 400 is impassable. Not true?

Good grief, schools out again tomorrow. That's 4 straight days. I wonder when they'll make all of these days up ?

For several hours vehicles have struggled with a slight incline in front of my house. There is enough ice that unless you travel in the tracks made earlier you can't navigate this very slight grade increase--not actually enough to be called a hill. My neighbor was never able to leave his driveway.

We have Waste Management, and their web site is tough to use. I really had to search for info. It seems that we are supposed to put our bins out on the normal pickup day (Tues here), and they will get to them by the weekend.

I don't blame them for not picking up, but they should have a special weather announcement on their home page.

There's a solid sheet of ice in my cul de sac. I've already busted my butt several times lol and scraped up my elbows bad too. I'll be glad when this ice and snow melts.
