Yeah, but so were the Beatles. "I wanna hold your hand" indeed ... start with that, and it isn't too long before you're kissing and making babies.

I'm generally not a big fan of Christian pop music but there's where some of the best hip hop is coming from these days.

Rapping is one a apart of Hip Hop, but just because it is rapping does not make it hip hop. Hip Hop has 4 elements, MCing, Graffitti, Djing, and breaking(breakdancing) and is a form of artistic and musical expression.

@DTL3000 Hip hop is more of a culture. Rap is the art of putting poetry to a musical soundtrack or a drumbeat within time and meter. Hip hop is very much alive and well and was pretty much divorced from rap when P.Diddy sold out back in the late 90s and went commercial. The result is the garbage that is the current Atlanta music scene.

Cool. I think I had heard some people explain that rap is a form of music while hip hop is an entire lifestyle. I just wanted to clear it up.

I agree that what's been coming out of Atlanta, what little I've heard, is sub par to earlier eras or areas. I'm not going to pretend I fully understand hip hop culture but I can't reliably pick out good music from every genre and Gucci Mane and Wacka Flacka ain't makin' it. TI may be a step above but he doesn't seem to have enough sense to keep himself out of prison.

They seem like characitures(sp? tried looking it up) of black culture that perpetuate negative stereotypes. I'm sure there are better representatives of Atlanta hip hop.
