Wow! Dr. Blackwood is one gutsy fellow.

Here's a blog with a lot of comments from other teachers and parents:

Maybe they should take back that $75,000 raise for the head honcho and use that towards some 'education' and 'socialization' of the administration... IMHO

I suspect Dr Blackwood is in a second and possibly post-retirement career; his credentials would suggest so, anyway. So I would infer that he has less to lose than most employees by his frank and pithy commentary.
Having said that, I thought it was a marvelous (and right-on) article.

He may be relatively young, though. The blog says his dissertation was done in 2005, and he talks about running and biking to work at SWD from his home in Decatur.

Either way it's a mighty strong statement!

Dr. Blackwood is young and is planning on staying at SWD.

His points are salient and relevant to much of what is happening in instruction in DeKalb, not just the South end.

I went to one of the parent input meetings today and I walked out even more concerned than I already was.

My bad. The dissertation was 1995 -- I don't know why I typed 2005.
