I just moved to Decatur (N Druid Hills) and started a new job in downtown Atlanta. Most days, it takes me around 30 minutes from my apartment to the parking deck, but every few days, NDH is a parking lot and it will take me 40 minutes to drive 1 mile from my complex to 85 South.

So on these days, I need an alternate route. I was thinking NDH to Lavista to Lindbergh to 85. Does anyone know what traffic is like on these roads? Any other advice would be so great! Thanks!

We live in the same general area. My husband sometimes takes LaVista to Lindbergh, but then he goes on to Buckhead, not downtown.

Have you considered going north on Clairmont and hitting 85 there? I find that is quicker/easier usually.

BTW, there have been a couple of weird traffic days in the past 1-2 weeks that I haven't figured out. That is definitely not usual. The sucky thing is I don't usually figure it out until I'm sitting in it.

That might be your best bet.

From LaVista to Briarcliff to Ponce would be another alternative. You never know what to expect on Briarcliff.

You could take a R turn from B'Cliff at Sage Hill/Friarcliff Animal Hospital and I think that's Johnson Rd--this takes you through VA Hi--also iffy traffic flow in the AM.

I'm certain someone will have other recs.

Also--from NDH --if you turn on Briarcliff --just past Loehman's Plaza--you can make a R turn onto Sheridan Rd--this takes you to Cheshire Bridge--could be problematic with people coming off I85 and 400---but might be worth a try if La Vista is bad---Lindbergh is one light up.

Thank y'all so much! It turns out those were some fluke days, and it hasn't happened since. I think a light was out at N Druid Hills and Buford Hwy. But now I know some alternate routes just in case it does happen again.

Thank you!
