Bike lanes are not as common in the area as they should be. Some roads in Roswell have lanes, Hwy 141 in Johns Creek has lanes but it doesn't in Norcross. But the lanes that exist are mostly sporadic and disjoint. Nonetheless there is quite a bit of urban bike activity. Most folks I know (me included) just ride on the roads. I've only been yelled at a few times to "get on the sidewalk".

mapmyride.com is a good source for potential routes, but they won't necessarily be on bike lanes (and the website itself is really annoying). The Silver Comet is a great place to bike once you get west of Powder Springs. East of there it can get crowded. Someone mentioned the Alpharetta Greenway trail. It is nice but is very crowded on weekends and it has a 10 mph speed limit. There are supposedly some paved trails and bike lane routes in North Cobb but I haven't explored them.

I will endorse the Silver Comet as one of the best options in town. It is not far (in Smyrna) and it's hard to beat dozens of contiguous miles of paved, flat trail with minimal street crossings. When I used to do marathons I would do all my long runs on it, even in pitch dark, that is how even and well kept the trail is. You do get the occasional shady individual meandering on the trail and there have been some random incidents/attacks on women over the years so, like anywhere else, you need to be alert and aware of your surroundings.
