Work has began on a rare dual-branded hotel at 10th and Williams streets in Midtown.

The project, an 11-story structure housing two Hilton flags (The Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites By Hilton) was first announced in September, 2008 and was scheduled to open early this year.

Construction begins on Midtown’s dual-branded Hilton Hotel | what now, atlanta?

I love that it's closer to the highway! This is exactly what Midtown needs IMO, more infill in the Spring St corridor. Spring looks so barren when compared to it's big brothers Peachtree and West Peachtree.

Exactly what this city doesn't need is more hotels.

These properties will do well. They are strong brands. They are only going to dilute the demand for the rest of the area though. Hotels have always performed just ok in Atlanta. Or in the case of the upscale hotels, not so great.

We're going to see a lot more Hilton branded properties pop up across the metro area in the next decade (such as these). The downtown Hilton had an agreement which expired that no new hotels could be built within x number of miles.

Much better markets to build a hotel vs Atlanta.

But won't the parking lot at Spring and 10th remain? It looks like the hotel will only cover a portion of the block, at 10th and Williams St.

Yep, the hotel takes up a pretty tiny chunk of land.
