I'm pretty pleased with the preliminary plans. Last weekend I ran along the Beltline trail between Irwin and Monroe and it really gives you a new perspective of how the neighborhoods are geographically set up. And it will connect neighborhoods in a new way.

Reminders: major Beltline meetings this week and later this month! (At these meetings they solicit input from residents and it seems to matter, at least somewhat.):

The woman above is about to walk out in front of the train.

Remember folks, those are artists renderings, which usually have little to do with the finished product. But when possible, public input does sometimes have a way of shaping the way things will go/look, so it's worth going to the meetings.

Heh. Maybe she realizes that the train is merely a mirage, brought to us by the holographic team at Beltline, Inc.

In addition to possibly shaping the direction of planning, attendees also stand to learn a lot more about the project itself than can be learned from the website or from media pieces alone. While there are always some eyeroll-inducing questions from the NIMBY types, non-experts have a way of asking about issues from unexpected angles. I've liked the previous meetings I've been to a good bit.
