Hey everyone! I'm trying to find an apartment in the (or close to) the city. I looked at six apartments yesterday (M Street, 935m, Westchester at Peachtree Valley, Glenwood East, Alexander at the District, and 660). Based on where I work (off 20w near six flags) and my preferences I narrowed my selection down to Glenwood East and 660. Now I am having a difficult time choosing between the two.

Pros: They're both close to the city, they're new, and I love the amenities. Glenwood East seems like it has restaurants and shops within walking distance, but appears to be in a transitional neighborhood. The only thing I dislike about Glenwood is the parking garage is seperate from the apartment building and it appears to be in a transitional neighboorhood. I'm thinking of safety at night AND having to walk in and out of the rain/snow. 660 doesn't seem like anything is within walking distance, but it is actually just a smidge closer to midtown. It has attached parking (bonus), but is a little more expensive and has valet trash...which by the way I hate. I think it is disgusting to come home and see trash bags sitting beside everyone's door. Even worse when they're leaking.

Does anyone have insight or personal experience from these apartments? What about the neighborhoods and criminal activity? I'm also open to other apartment suggestions.

P.S. I'm coming from the suburbs so ultimately I'd like the safest apartment possible.

here are some other opinions....

If you're not dead set on living intown, you might want to check out the vinings area up 285... It's not really my bag, but as far as commute, you would be going against traffic and it wouldn't be bad.. relatively. (Assuming you work a day shift)

We lived at 660 apts for 6 months when we first moved to Atlanta. I really liked them as far as apartments go. The area is really convenient to the restaurants on Ponce and L5P. It was also right up the street from my church. We were up on the 4th floor so we didnt' really worry about getting broken into. Park your car in the garage, not on the street because I did know of a few car break ins (there area does get a lot of foot traffic). Neighbors were friendly, not a lot of noise. We lived on the backside in the #3000 building. Management was pretty quick to get problems fixed (usually the same day). Our water bill was kind of expensive, it averaged about $120 that included the "valet trash". Now we're in a house and we only pay about 1/2 that.
