Another thing you may want to try is discount gift certificates -
www.restaurant.com . But don't buy the standard offer of "$25 certificates for $10", sign up on their email list and they'll let you know codes for sales that are 60 and 70% off. We've only used two of the certificates we've bought but haven't had any trouble. I have six more waiting to be used. Some have rules such as not being used on Saturdays and they generally don't cover alcohol, but if you can live with the restrictions it works out pretty well.

I agree, I really don't like the selection either. I get up to 60% off through email sometimes, but you have to act really fast.

I'll have to try Restaurant.com. Looks like the gift card you buy never covers the min. purchase amount. Anyone have experience with places that do not list alcohal excluded, does that mean its counts toward the min.

Speaking of discounts, there's a new local site that launched today called ScoutMob.com, similar to groupon.com or halfoffdepot.com. The reason why I'm excited about this site is that I don't have to pay for the discount upfront before I use it! Please note, they just launched( i.e. working out the kinks) so e-mail and SMS text responses may take a few hours. Today's deal, Murphy's in VA-Highland.
