HI! I live in Orlando, I have for 6 1/2 years. not a FAN of Orlando. I am from North Idaho, country land. I don't want to live in the Country, BUT I do want to have country around me, say and hour drive or so, just to get out and breath fresh air. Orlando is so muggy, cramped and well, just don't like it. I have a 16 mo. old and my husband and I are thinking of moving to GA, to live close to family in Powder springs. I was wondering where is good, that has good Real Estate offices, and Good HIGH class Lounges, Grille's to work at or go to. THANKS!! Trust me, you think Atlanta is getting cramped? Check out this hell hole in Orlando, ahaha, I just want positive feed back, My husband still has to "Think" about it.. thanks:

I live in Powder Springs, and actually, if you just go 3-6 miles North of the Powder Springs city limits, then that's a very nice area. Some call it simply West Cobb, others "West Marietta", but it's an unincorporated area just North of Powder Springs, and West of Marietta. Good homes, there's a fair amount of development going on, but it's not insane like North of Atlanta (well, YET, anyway). It has access to I-75 within a 25 minute drive, but isn't right in the middle of all the congestion junk.

Hiram Georgia is a small, fairly rural town near Powder Springs where you can get 4 bedromm homes for less than $300,000. Many in the 225,000-250,000 range. It is growing rapidly however as is everyplace else it seems.

The potential problem with Hiram is that it's an area with unchecked and seemingly unregulated growth - this could become a problem to those moving into the area within a few short years.

Along the main arteries (Highway 278 and Highway 92) there has been so much growth in the last 3 years it's amazing. Mostly chain stores and strip centers, but still - we're talking what.. 85 stores, with at least half a dozen shopping centers under construction as well? There's a Best Buy and Circuit City both scheduled to open in November as well. Traffic along that corredore has increased significantly and continues to do so.

So my own opinion of Hiram is to "proceed with caution" and make sure you visit first to inspect the area (and congestion).
