We are relocating to Georgia this summer. I visited John's Creek High School & Alpharetta High School and my kids both preferred Johns Creek. However, we still have not found the housing we are seeking and I came across some info for Roswell High School (which offers the two programs my kids are interested in) and wanted to get some feedback on the pros and cons of both High Schools and the areas in general.

We are "regular" people and although I realize Johns Creek is more of an upper middle class area, I do not want to end up in an area where "how much you make & what you do" deterime if people like you....I guess in a nutshell, I am looking for less of a "cliquish" High school, but that still offers teachers that care about the students. My kids are average students overall and we are leaving an affluent top notch public school where the students are treated very well by the teachers and the "cliques" are minimal.

Thanks in advance for all of your constructive feedback!

Fulton County Schools - Operational Planning - Bethany Bend HS Redistricting (http://www.fultonschools.org/redistricting/bethany.htm - broken link)

Just be aware that in Aug 2012 There is a new high school opening, that will cause re-districting of Alpharetta, Roswell, Milton HS. (and maybe other in the cluster when the final map is done).

Oh my gosh, thank you for the heads up, I just went through that where I am here in Tennessee and it was awful wondering what they were going to do......

Redistricting meeting this week and it sounds like it will be well attended. Milton and Roswell High Schools are both very good (we put offers on homes in both districts last year and would have been happy with either). The Roswell High School principal is going to the new high school and he is fantastic.

@roxyrn, my daughter is already in the Television production program where we are at now (4 year program) and my son is interested in the engineering program-I believe Milton does not offer either program, but Roswell offers both--so it would be vital for me to land in the right HS. Can you plz post any info you find out about the rezoning? I am going to start researching homes in the Roswell area....

I work with some younger co-workers who attended Roswell H.S. (which I also considered for my son, we're about to close on a house in the Chattahoochee H.S. cluster). They tell me that the environment there overall is friendly and not overly cliquish. It also offers "something" for all types of students -i.e. not just the "best of the best" which can be a problem in other local schools.

Round 3 of the redistricting process is tomorrow night and the board is supposed to vote at their June meeting.

We have been very happy with Roswell High School this year and the transition from New York was as smooth as possible given a lot of differences in curriculum between the two states. That said, I think the other north Fulton high schools are also very good, if not better in some areas. It all depends on your student and your family as to which is "the best." There are lots of options.
