You're probably right. And while I am aware of the official boundaries of CP and IP and that technically L5P is a business district, not a neighborhood...I only make the distinction when talking to people who are similarly aware. For instance, if I am talking to a friend from IP I make the distinction between our neighborhoods...because for us they ARE different...we have different neighborhood orgs, etc. But when talking to someone from work, most who live OTP, I say I live by L5P because, as you say, it's very recognizable. I've been to other countries and people who have visited Atlanta from there will remember L5P.

No. It's in Unicorp Dekalb, although Brookhaven runs concurrently with Buckhead.

That's technically Inman Park. There are no homes in L5P. L5P is a business district, not a neighborhood. There may be a handful of apartments over businesses, etc. But there aren't enough residential units there to call it a neighborhood.

However, when speaking with out-of-towners or OTPers I will often say I live "near" L5P because a lot of people have heard of L5P but not Candler Park or Inman Park.
The same goes for Buckhead. There are actually at least 20 neighborhoods that make up Buckhead...Collier Hills, Tuxedo Park, Peachtree Battle, Brookwood, etc. But I hear people refer to Buckhead as "the best neighborhood in Atlanta" all the time. These are more "districts" within the city of Atlanta that consist of many neighborhoods. East Atlanta is another one.

I believe the term "lilly white" is a pejorative, yes?

One might gauge so by the reaction if I referred to an area's population as 'coal black" or "black as night".

Only to people grasping at straws as a basis for stirring up the sh*t.

Right. Because racist comments, when made ABOUT white people, are perfectly fine.

Instead of getting defensive, you could have, instead, said that you didnt realize it at the time but yes, 'lilly white' is a pejorative, and that you regret using the term. I would have accepted that as a legitimate apology and retraction.

Only people who've been wronged deserve an apology. If you are so sensitive as to read my use of "lily white" as a racial slur against whites then it seems to be more your problem than mine...especially when you ignore the main content of the post just to try to start sh*t.

You're wasting your time. This poster does not like being white, which explains his distaste for an area that is 90% white.
