Hi Guys,

I originally planned to go to ATL June 20th-June 26th to visit complexes/apartments and try to book a place for a move-in date of August 1st... I recently found out I need to stay in DC until August 28th because of my BF's job and to ensure proper relocation. Ideally, I'd like to get a place for August 20th and just pro-rate the rent or to make it easier September 1st?

However, if I go to ATL in June will apartments even be available for the new dates I'm looking for? I'm looking on Craigslist now and most are available for July so I'm kind of worried. Should I postpone my trip and go next month instead? I'm only going to be able to go to ATL for one week before I do this move and I'm scared I might be wasting my time if I go this month..HELP

If you are looking at apartment complexes you should be fine. Most people give 1 to 2 months notice. At a minimum you can do your search and narrow down your choices and then make a final decision remotely from DC.

The complexes may not be able to show you the exact unit that will be available so take lots of notes and don't forget to bring our camera to keep track.

Thank-You Lori! I was so worried about ATL's rental market because here in DC it's quite a hustle to find a decent one lol.

We were also going to factor in housing from private landlords, should they be ok as well?

Private landlords should be okay if you are a quality candidate. We have quite a few rentals in my neighborhood and most owners have told me they will wait for the right person. The get 100's of applications for each townhome but they will tell you that most are not good.
