So I got nabbed going 60 in a 45... is GA like FL? If I go to court to fight it, will they toss the points and just let me pay a fine? What should I do?

I think it depends on the county.

You want to try and negotiate it down to 14mph or less over the limit or get it reduced to some lesser charge like driving too fast for conditions which carries no points. Anything 14 mph or less over the limit won't get reported, so getting it reduced is key.

That is a no point ticket...

Points don't start in GA until you are 15 over. My first ticket was a 61 in a 45.

Points start at 15 mph over.

Speeding:
15 mph but less than 19 mph 2 points
19 mph but less than 24 mph 3 points
24 mph but less than 34 mph 4 points
34 mph or more 6 points

How long do the points stay on your license? I wasn't able to find that. I'm sure mypoints should be off by now (recieved my ticket in April 05). i wasn't sure if it was 2 or 3 years...

Were you doing 60 in a 45?

If not, go fight it.

If so, pay your fine, read the speed limit signs from now on, and drive slower. It's not complicated.

Thanks for your useless post. Like I said... in FL, they are so backed up that if you show up to fight the ticket and plead no contest, you will pay a fine but will get no points. I was just wondering if GA was the same so there's no need for the sarcasm.

The cop says 60 in a 45... that's 15. Do you only get points for 16+?
