Atlanta might just be turning into the next Hollywood as more and more celebrities are seen cruising around town. The Georgia government has placed big tax breaks on film and television production, then it is more profitable for movie makers and broadcasters to come over to the South East for their new endeavors. This is great news for us, atlantians, as movies and TV brings the celebrities along with them.

I lived in LA near Beverly Hills and worked in W. Hollywood. Atlanta does not come close to a Hollywood. First reason is that the people here have a differnt mindset than west coasters, People come to ATL because it's housing is much cheaper. Yes, there are many a "stars" and various entertainment businesses here but that does not make it a future Hollywood.

For those that dont know, ATL is considered the "strip club capital" of the nation and the gay/lesbian capital for african americans. Let Hollywood stay in CA.

No one is saying it will be The actual Hollywood but Hollywood is doing alot of produtions and moveing studios over here.. This will another place were lots of movies productions TV shows and award shows are held... This is a fact. Atlanta is already getting the nick name HOllywood of the South... Trust it wont be long before Atlanta blows up in that direction.

A lot of celebrities are relocating to ATL not just because of the explosion in music/TV/film production in Georgia, but also just to get away from LA. The cost of living and quality of life is better, they don't have to fight the paparazzi (people in Atlanta respect the privacy of celebs and generally leave them alone; Elton John has said many times that the reason he lives in ATL is he can go to Lenox or Kroger and nobody bothers him). Also, because of the airport, people in the entertainment biz can be based here and commute anywhere in the world easily.

I'm willing to bet ATL has the largest concentration of entertainers / celebrities / pro athletes living here than any place outside NYC and LA.

So, if Atlanta becomes the new Hollywood, what will become the new "strip club capital"?

Atlanta is the next Vancouver probably - a secondary movie industry market.

However, Detroit will probably become the long-term mecca of cheap studios. Atlanta is getting too expensive. Detroit has a huge labor pool and lots of cheap land.

Why can't it be both?
