Hello,

Can any recommend things to do/places to go for a 1yr anniversary in ATL and/or surrounding areas? I have some friends who want to come to ATL to celebrate their first anniversary - but don't want to break the bank. Can anyone recommend some things that ATL visitors would like or find interesting?

Thanks!

Not sure how the big the bank is that your friends don't want to break, but here's a thought: Stay in the Loew's hotel in Midtown and enjoy a good meal at Spice Market, Nan, Table 1280, Ecco or any number of good restaurants around. In the morning, walk to the Botanical Gardens, stroll around Piedmont Park and grab a bite of lunch outdoors at Park Tavern. From there, grab a cab downtown and visit the attractions around Centenial Park. For fun, top it all off with dinner at the Varsity. If still up to it the next day, take the train up to the Lennox Mall area for some window or real shopping.

Have them check out hotel packages, may hotels offer something for an anniversary. For ours I went with this package, and it included a very nice room, dinner at the restaurant hotel, champagne and chocolates in the room when we got back, breakfast the next day and a couples massage. I agree with Botanical gardens/piedmont park. Also check out the Glenn hotel which has an great rooftop bar (they have a dj there at nights on the weekends, which does attract a late 20's crowd). Ive heard the Renaissance in midtown (formally the Palomar) also has a great rooftop bar that is a little more upscale.

If you are looking for surrounding areas, I did the same thing at Chateau Elan 2 years later.
