By Food Network. Anybody in Atlanta want to argue with that? (I don't).

Why did you post in the Atlanta forum? Is the pizza so good it's worth driving 250 miles for it?

Many would say so, yes. Lots of folks who visit Savannah from NYC rave about Vinnie's being the only authentic NY style pizza they've ever had outside the Big Apple. I like it, but I don't know if it's the best of anything -- too flat and messy for my tastes. But anyway, I was curious if Atlantans would be willing to argue there's better pie in the ATL. Food Network seems to have a love affair with Savannah anyway.

Have never had pizza in Savannah. Would never go to Savannah to have pizza - or anywhere elese for that matter. Mellow Mushroom is just fine for me, thank you.

Varasanos on Peachtree is very good NY-style pizza.

I've eaten there twice. I enjoyed it, but unless it's gotten a lot better recently it's definitely not even close to the best pizza in GA.

The fact that they can't use a wood-burning oven has definitely hurt their pizza in my opinion. They have had issues with soggy crust because an electric oven just doesn't get hot enough. Still good pizza in my opinion, but to each his own.

Vinnie Van Go-Go is good, and it's location in City Market is iconic, but it is no where close to being Georgia's best pizza. You can find that at Antico.

Perhaps you can argue with those in the Savannah room - this isn't an Atlanta topic.
