So, I'm going to have to commute from the West Cobb area to the airport pretty soon... obviously taking 75 down will be a killer unless I leave at the crack of dawn. A friend mentioned that if I took Jimmy Lee Smith all the way down, it would be against traffic and pretty easy but I'm skeptical. I've also heard Thornton but I assume a gang of folks will be taking that to go hit 20. Any ideas? Thanks.

My husband goes to airport all the time in the morning from Austell and EW connector. He takes either Thorton Rd to 20 or EW Connector to 285. Neither are bad. He never takes 75, too unpredictable.

Yeah, I think my issue is that it will take about 25-30 min to get to where he starts from...

Almost every time I go to the airport from my house in NW Atlanta, I get on I-285 from Atlanta Rd. That side of I-285 south-bound is RARELY backed up. I've almost never been in a traffic jam, and I go that way probably 10 times a year at varying times of day.
