What is it with you guys and commuting? The reason we have congested freeways is because we can't live near our jobs! As a few people on here mentioned, find some place CLOSE BY to commute to and from.

Why on earth would someone want to commute from Cherokee or North Fulton when they can live right here in Gwinnett!? Places right up the road from Norcross (if not in Norcross itself) is Duluth, Peachtree Corners, Lawrenceville, Suwanee, or Lilburn. I wouldn't venture much further out than Buford or Roswell (the latter being in North Fulton) due to the traffic.

Let's not contribute to the already tough commute. Live close to your jobs!

Not so easy if you already own a home and must change jobs in this tough economy.

I remember the good old days when you could easily tell a recruiter what areas town you were willing to drive to and still have lots of job options in your prefered area.

When North Fulton jobs started to boom, friends easily sold their homes to live closer to their new jobs. Today that is not an option for most people.

That may be true for you and understandably so. I am referring more towards the people relocating to the area.

As for the economy in the dumps.. this, too, shall pass. Hopefully sooner than later. *fingers crossed*

I'm staying in a hotel off Jimmy Carter in Norcross and it is completely hood. Although once you get near Peachtree Corners or south of Peachtree Pkwy it is a nice area

One of the reasons the home you showed is so reasonable is that it is so far away with a mediocre high school (not sure about the middle/elementary schools). We looked at fabulous homes in Acworth when we thought my husband's job was going to be in Kennesaw, but to travel to Norcross is a hike.
We have friends in Peachtree Corners and it is very nice, close to shopping, good schools and very family friendly.
You might consider Roswell 30076.

Alpharetta, Roswell, Duluth, Norcross or Johns Creek are good choices based on what you describe.

You should drive around the Norcross area during rush hour to get an idea.

Acworth or Canton, no.

You could easily spend over an hour in rush hour traffic from just the other side of Gwinnett to Norcross using surface streets ... (Snellville to Norcross as broad examples).
