People will not want to take the streetcar 80% of the way then take another, different form of transportation the last 20%.
There would be different lines: encircle the city, downtown or north-west, north-east lines.

Is it supposed to be a second streetcar or lightrail line?
Light-rail and Streetcar use the same infrastructure and technology. Light-rail is multiple streetcars linked together, while streetcar is a single car.

Not in Portland. Light rail is slow. Streetcar is slower. Average speed of the streetcar in Portland is 7 mph. That is a slow jog. That sure doesn't sound like the transportation game-changer you are touting. Sounds more like a $95 million waste.

I agree that they wouldn't change to a different form of transit, but it's a super easy, short, and very nice walk right through the park (or on the sidewalk next to the park) from the end of the line to the aquarium.

Nope do you?

I know the Portland speed and the speed of the proposed system in Cincinnati (6.7 mph)

I'm working with the known numbers. Why, in the absence of other data would you assume anything else?

Oh, right. You love the choo-choo.

Beats the hell outta driving in this city. When the proposed speed numbers become available we can talk then. I know the BeltLine intends to main a speed of 30 mph.

If we just wanted to get people from Point A to Point B, then, yes, the bus is more cost effective. (We've already had them for years).

However, these projects are not purely about transportation. For one thing, a lot of people simply don't want to ride the bus. You also have issues with overall urbanism. If our peer cities have streetcars, why in tarnation should Atlanta have to do without? Finally, the streetcar has the potential to bring about enormous growth.

That's reasonable speed in downtown. Drivers will have to get used to the Streetcars having the right-of-way. There will special all 4 red lights for streetcars to turn light from the right lane.
