...any recommendations of who I can get to do this for cheap?

TruGreen wants $125 which includes the seed. Looking to pay $40 for just aeration, $80 with seed.

How big an area? I just had a guy out today who charged me $300 for a little over an acre.

Our lot is 3/4 of an acre. Based on that, I'd say our backyard is about 1/3 of an acre.

$120 or so doesn't sound too bad. The guy who did our place was out here most of the day and that dang grass seed has gotten expensive.

Ours wouldn't take more than 45 to roll over with machine and then seed, but I'm fine seeding myself.

Rent an aerator and do it yourself-
If you can get neighbors involved you can split the cost and get it down to about 12-15bucks.

I have given up on all of this aerating stuff and also fescue. Just bit the bullet and put in Zoysia. Grows much slower and much less weeds. I think there is a 3 year ROI compared to Fescue if you pay a lawn service.

BTW I cannot stand Truegreen. They love to up sell all the time.

Zoysia? Is that one that you plant as plugs? How well does it handle drought, shade, and direct sunlight?
