Hello again,

I posted a few months back titled "Moving to Buford".

Well, it looks as if it will now be in the Fayetteville area.

I was wondering how this area is? Are both cities diverse with race?

Just want to make sure the cities are safe for me and my family.

Thank you,

Jason

I can't speak for Fayetteville, but we just moved to Peachtree City and we couldn't be happier. It's pretty much the friendliest place I've ever lived. The school my kids are attending is wonderful - both of their teachers are excellent and the environment is very warm. Many, MANY of my neighbors made a point of coming down to say hello once we were in our home and they've gone out of their way to invite us to join them here and there. I was very resistant to moving, but it's just been the best experience. I also assumed that moving to a more affluent area like this would make me feel like an outsider - I assumed people would be snobby - but it's really been the complete opposite. At least the people I've met are for the most part very down to earth. I will say that there is not as much diversity here as I would like - I prefer to have my kids around groups of people who don't look just like them. However, of my direct neighbors, one family is African American and another is from South America. So while I do see mostly white people, obviously there is at least some diveristy here.

I had a co-worker (who was african-american) at my last job that lived in Peachtree City and he and his family loved it there. They never had any issues with diversity, and they moved there from Philadelphia proper (downtown from what I remember) so they probably wouldn't have felt as comfortable there if it wasn't a safe place to live because that was why they moved down here in the first place. If you have got kids then I would suggest looking up the schools and finding out what the parents are saying about them. That way you can find out what type of teachers and administration the school has, which makes a difference. Somewhere that you can tell the faculty, administration, and parents all work together is generally a good place to be.

Anything south of Atlanta is questionable. Get a map of Atlanta and find I-20 (east to west). Anything south of that highway is not recommended.

I have lived in both Peachtree City and Fayetteville. Both are great places to live but I prefer Peachtree City. Fayetteville proberly does have more diversity but it also has a bit more crime and traffic. ( I really did like living there though ).Peachtree City was our choice in the end because of all the recreational resources it has .

PTC and Fayetteville are not far apart. 10-15 minutes maybe. We just bought a new construction home in Fayetteville. Both cities seem to be fairly similar in my limited time there.
