Did anybody else hear about the fight at Westlake High in SW Atlanta? I was in shock when I heard about what happened. Now Fulton County Public Schools will not let the mother transfer her children to another school! This just seems ridiculous. If one of my children was beat up like this at school I would want them transferred. The way Fulton County handled the whole situation is atrocious. The school did not even call an ambulance!

Oh, you're making too much of this.....so a kid gets beaten to within an inch of his life in a highschool....happens everywhere.....he probably had his laptop out in plain view so he deserved it......he just needs more situational awareness....same thing happens in the North Fulton County Schools.....Fulton County needs to throw more money at the problem....at least he was surrounded with "diverstiy"....you suburbanites are just frightened of everything....I think I've covered all of the excuses, hoping to shorten the thread.....

Yes I did see the story as I'm sure others on here did. Who cares though? To be honest stuff has been pretty slow crime wise here locally the last month or so so the news is making a big deal out of this when it is not even that serious.

Awww, sarcasm, how cute

And beaten to within an inch of his life is a stretch don't you think? The kid got his jaw broken and some bumps and bruises, not acting like that's right, but on the other side of the coin that is a far cry from getting beaten to "within an inch of your life". And no one is making excuses except you to even insinuate that this type of thing only goes on in Atlanta and South Fulton. My cousin is a senior at Riverwood and they had a fight the very first week of school this year. Back when I was in HS I remember on more than a few occasions the students at North Springs High trying to gang up and beat up visiting schools after basketball games. An incident after a North Atlanta game at North Springs comes to mind with the North Springs students pulling out baseball bats and chasing people around the parking lot and onto Roswell Rd. And don't even get me started on the rampant drug activity at schools like Roswell, Chattahoochee and pretty much every other HS up in that direction.

I have a cousin who goes to Westlake and she said it was gang related. I have no sympathy for the suburban thugS, that's what happens when you try to "live" that life.

Yeah that perfectly sums up Westlake, alot of those kids come from very well off homes. You got kids from Butner Rd, Sandtown, Cascade outside 285, and Ben Hill west of Tuscon Park who act like kids from the projects for some reason. I never could understand it. I went to Washington and Westlake was our arch rival along with Douglas, and there was always drama whenever we played Westlake, usually started on their end. We were actually from the hood and the inner city, those kids were from subdivisions like Guilford Forest and Regency Park with parents who were white collar professionals, but you wouldn't be able to tell that from how they acted.

But all that said Westlake does put out some 5 star Football and Basketball Players. That school is like a football factory for D-1 and the pros

Same thing with the white kids. They grow up in Sandy Springs, but think they are a hillbilly from the country.
