Next year I plan on moving me (23 years old) and my son (3 years old)from Saginaw, Mi to the Atlanta area. I am currently working on my Cosmetology license and plan on becoming a make-up artist once i get down there. This will be my first BIG MOVE. Im looking for apartments/townhouses in Southern Atlanta (Jonesboro, Riverdale, Union City, etc). Can anyone give reviews on the area, typical price range of living, apartmant/townhouse suggestions, schools, and pointers on moving out of state. All ideals will be appreciated. Thank you in adve

If you love your child, do not under any circumstances send him to Clayton county schools.

Do they even have their accreditation back?

Umm not sure where you would have read that, like ATL said they may not even have their accreditation back. AKA Ga already has some of the worst public schools in the country, and Clayton counties is even at the bottom of GA, so much so they lost their accreditation 2 years ago? As a whole the areas you described are pretty high in crime, although all of the cities do have certain decent spots.

The whole southside does not have high crime! Research the area you want to live, but there are some descent areas in the southside. People talk bad about the southside because it has a high African-american concentration. Atlanta Public Schools did get its accreditation back.

He didn't say the whole southside has high crime, he said the places she mentioned, which was Jonesboro, Union City, Riverdale, and those areas don't have the best areas. Yes, there are definitely nice, safe, and high income areas on the southside (fayette county, parts of south fulton county, parts of henry county), but for the most part, Clayton County doesn't qualify.

I'm not sure what the budget is and if you would consider a single-family home, but if you want to stick to the southside, check out historic College Park and parts of historic east point. (I think some areas include frog hollow, jefferson park, among others). Basically you'll get an in-town Atlanta vibe, with the space/quietness of the burbs.

Watch out for the teens using heroin and meth on the northside. Plus its filled with serial killers and child molesters

Single family living is like a low income house or apt? What is it all about?
