Headed to NC maybe...
Trying to decide if it's worth the headache because last time I left at around 10 am going N 85 and it took me 4 hours to get to Greenville SC due to the number of people crashing. It took me 7.5 hours to make a normal 5 hour trip.
So do you think 6 am would be early enough? Or would the night before actually be better?

On Thanksgiving itself? 6 am should be a pretty easy drive. I think Wed night would be worse.

Yeah the day itself. Maybe it was just bad luck but 3 years ago it was the worst trip ever just trying to get out of the state. At one point I think we moved 10 miles in an hour. So maybe that wasn't the norm, I will try early.

If it helps to reassure you, we've driven from the Milton area to Hendersonville NC via 85 for the past two years, leaving early Thanksgiving morning but not that early, more like 8:30am. Both times we made it in less than 4 hours.
