If you chose Inman Park - here are some walking directions/highlights:

www.inmanpark.org
http://atlanta.about.com/od/neighbor...IP_walking.htm

From the Inman Park MARTA Station (blue line):

When you walk down the stairs to the parking lot of the Inman Park MARTA Station - you will be at the corner of Hurt and Edgewood Avenue. Straight ahead is Untitled Document

If you travel to the right on Hurt - the street is dotted with Victorian homes. If you make a right on Euclid you head into Little Five Points. Little Five Points - Your guide to businesses, restaurants and entertainment in Atlanta's favorite neighborhood. is a funky business district.

Great burgers: The Vortex Bar & Grill
Bar and TV soccer viewing: Welcome to The Brewhouse Cafe : HOME
The Porter Beer Bar ~ Brilliant Beer Bar, Grub and Suds in the Heart of Little Five Points, Atlanta, GA

If you continue into Inman Park, the corner of Euclid and Elizabeth on the left is the old Candler Mansion. He was one of the founders of Coca-Cola. Inman Park - Callan Castle (http://www.inmanpark.org/Callan.html - broken link)

Make a right on to Elizabeth. The corner of Elizabeth and Lake will offer some additional dining options:

The Albert Atlanta - Welcome to The Albert Atlanta
Victory Sandwich Bar | Atlanta, GA

As you walk up the street to the corner of North Highland and Elizabeth - more options:

Fritti U Restaurants and the sister restaurant is Sotto Sotto. Sotto Sotto is only open for dinner.

Make a left on North Highland and you head into Inman Park Village.

Barcelona Atlanta Wine Bar & Restaurant
Pure Taqueria | Be Sure with Pure!
Inman Perk Coffee
PARISH ~ FOODS & GOODS They have a nice bakery on the terrace level too.

Across from Parish, I would wander into Inman Park Village. It was an old Mead paper warehouse and now houses brownstones, single family homes, condos and apartments. If you keep to the bottom of the complex - you will see single family homes. They are located on Lake.

You can continue your walking tour on Lake away from Elizabeth. Inman Park boundaries end at Waddell and Lake. Left on Waddell and then left on Edgewood. Sauced restaurant & lounge will be right in front of you. They are only open for dinner and take cash only.

Walking back towards the MARTA Station, on your right will be a converted elementary school which are now condos. The corner of Spruce and Edgewood is Sugar Magnolia Bed & Breakfast in Atlanta, Georgia If you walk down Spruce, at the corner of Spruce and Dixie will be The Peach House

Continuing on Edgewood will dead end at Hurt and Edgewood where the Inman Park MARTA Station is.

Have fun!

Fairlie Poplar, particularly Broad Street, would be a good place to check out, but unfortunately, a lot of the businesses in this area are closed until after the new year. Also, GSU is on break, so Fairlie-Poplar is pretty dead right now. There might be some action on New Years Eve, but it'll be mostly tourists and people from the suburbs coming in for the "peach drop" at Underground/Five Points.
