Hey there's a great idea. Use tax dollars to pay for a road that we then have to pay more in order to use.

I-85 is probably the worst clogged artery, so it makes sense to alleviate it first.
I'd love to be able to take the train to Gwinnett Arena. You always have to sit for a long time to park if you go to a popular show and don't get there way early.

Well it's apparent that those in the Capitol will bend over backwards and dabble in black magic to find a way to get roads improved. But then again we always knew what their priorities were.

Use the $700 million to build mass transit in the corridor instead. Much bigger return on investment and it removes cars from the road, something that expansion or new lanes does not do. The new elevated lanes would be ugly and an eye-sore for Cobb County. Lets get mass transit running from Cobb to MARTA. Cobb just needs to approve the MARTA tax!

I agree. A vote of some sort in Cobb would be nice.

$700 million would not build a mass transit line up into Cobb. At best it would get a light rail line up to Cumberland from Midtown. Even then, it is light rail, and the impact would be minimal on the road congestion. Heck, $1 billion is only going to get us a 5 mile rail spur to Emory.

I'm got mass transit, but there has to be a balanced approach and counting on it to remove a significant number of cars from the road is not prudent.

Build the toll lanes. Build mass transit. Increase gas tax. Cobb, Clayton and Gwinnett vote on MARTA.

Emory is very dense and the spur would require multiple tunnels and bridges. Its more like $600 million, don't be exaggerating.
