We may be relocating this spring and not sure which area we'll end up in. Our son will be 4 in May so we'll be looking to enroll him in a part time preschool. Any recommendations or enrollment advice would be appreciated! The part time programs here can be hard to get into due to limited space so any insight into that side would be appreciated as well. For example, the school he's in now has people camping out the night before registration opens because last year the 3 year old classes only have TWO openings after currently enrolled families registered.

We are an interfaith family so recommendations that are non-denominational, protestant or Jewish would be welcome - please no Catholic schools though.

I'm also curious about public kindergarten in those areas - is it full day or half day?

We've been really happy at Atlanta Progressive Preschool. It's not in Decatur, but it seems like the majority of the families at the school live in Decatur. I've also heard wonderful things about Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool, but the co-op thing doesn't work for us since we had a younger child and no childcare to cover the times we would be required to work at the school.

Oh, and public kindergarten is a full day program both in the City Schools of Decatur and DeKalb County.

Thanks! I'll look into that school too, and like you the coop thing would not be my first choice as I'm currently expecting baby #2 and we will have NO support system in Atlanta to help out with childcare.
