Hello...we are thinking of relocating to GA. Well, more specifically PTC and would like to know alittle more about the area. Looked into the schools and they seem very good. From what I read McIntosh and Starr Mills are equal as high schools? Would love to hear from anyone who has relocated there (we are from NJ) and how they (and children) adjusted. I also read that most are not from GA originally..is that accurate? Where are most of the residents from? Do people tend to stay there awhile or is there a big turnover. Thanks...appreciate your help.

If it were up to me I would choose Stars Mill. Though the two schools are very similiar as far as academics are concerned the general feel you get when visiting both schools and dealing with staff and students are very different. We have two businesses that bring us into contact with both areas and the attitudes are very ,very different in each area.
If sports matter to your kids also - Stars Mill is by far the stronger of the two.
I have one coming up - High School next year and although we are districted for McIntosh - they will not be going there because of the above stated.

go falcons...thanks for the info on PTC schools. Sports is a concern for us too and couldnt find any info regarding the schools other than they are both strong academically. I have a son is a high school and baseball is a big part of his life. Getting him involved in sports there is priority. It will be his resource for fitting in and friend making, etc. Can you recommend subdivisions for the Star Mills district? Is Star Mills only PTC or does it include other towns as well? We are looking up to 400 price range. Thanks

The areas that I would look at are homes off of Redwind Rd , Peachtree Parkway and Robinson Rd. These three roads connect to resemble a triangle. Off of those three roads you will have several communities in the price range that you stated. Some of these will be in the Peachtree City limits and others will be just barely out. Starrs Mill pulls from both Peachtree City and Fayette County both.
Some of my favorites are Holly Grove, Jefferson Woods, Summer Grove ( those two are John Wieland developements and they have a lot of homes in them )All of those are off of Redwine Rd .And I believe all are just barely out of Peachtree City limits.
Timber Ridge is another communtity which is off of Peachtree Parkway is right on the city limits so it has sections of the neighborhood in both. Robinson Road has alot of older established neighborhoods that have a lot of homes that really are hidden jewels. ( They sometimes don't look like much on the outside but when you get in them or walk around in the back yard - they are awsome.(One thing to consider is that --this is a golf cart community and access to the paths is iffy on Redwine Rd ) The communities off of Peachtree Parkway and Robinson Road already have that well established.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I was alittle confused and wasnt sure if I should only stay in PTC or if Fayetteville address with Starr Mill schools were just as good for investment purposes. Honestly, not much comes up with a basement in PTC less than $400 (really wanted to spend around 350-375)The areas that are just out of the PTC limits, do they have golf carts too? We are planning a trip down next month so I guess it will all make sense once we can see it in person. I will do a MLS search in the areas you mentioned to get an idea of what my money will buy. Thanks again

I know that there are some n'hoods listed in Fayetteville that really have access to PTC. You'll need to check and make sure (find a good agent that really knows). Better yet, rent a golf cart and make sure. It is important here. Timber Ridge is a nice choice and is considered Fayetteville.

Friends of ours live in a subdivision in Fayetteville. Its located within walking distance to Starrs Mill(right around the corner) and they have a daughter that goes there. The also relocated from Jersey as did we. This SD is directly off of HW74 and I think is named The Chimneys. Large brick-fronts homes some of which are built on over an acre of land as is theirs.
