Instead of the shrubs they could esily incorporate the existing trees and have a beautiful tree lined interchange.
It easily fits within the footprint of the existing interchange. The result will actually be smaller.

It doesn't eliminate left turns. It eliminates left turns having to wait for oncoming traffic.

Sometimes, I have a feeling that more time and effort are spent on heath and safety and bureaucracy, than the actual project.

It does not eliminate left turns. It eliminates left turn conflicts with oncoming traffic.

It now looks like the project might be open to traffic as a diverging diamond in June. It will be the 12th in the nation open to traffic.

Today from 10-2 in the Perimeter Mall parking lot, they are having a practice driving the divergent diamond in golf carts (really just a PR stunt by the PCID), but thought some folks might be interested.

Here is the info

I don't see the interchange helping the biggest problem - those of us who work on that rd, can't even get down the ramp to 285 WB because traffic already on 285 that is trying to get to 400 N is blocking it.

The project that should have happened is walling off the entire length of the right lane from that interchange to 400.

those on 285 who want to head to 400 N should have to "exit" just before ashford dunwoody - looping under a tunnel to the otherside of ashford dunwoody and remain in a new lane to 400 N. Meanwhile, those of us going to 285 west would get on the ramp as usual and merge after 400.

JoeP. I believe what you are describing is already being planned for the 10 year TSPLOST if it passes. The entire GA-400/I-285 interchange will be reconstructed and collector-distributor lanes will be installed.

I love this new interchange idea. Seems so simple!

Lets just see if see if everybody can handle it. I bet the DOT will do a good enough job on the road markings that people wont realize they shifted until they are midway through the intersection.

BTW, here is a good video of a simulation of the traffic flow at a DDI
