We are looking at relocating to Alpharetta from CT. Last year we visited friends in Atlanta and looked at the Windward area and just loved it. Since this time, I have found homes in Deerlake that also look nice and it seems to be close to Swim Atlanta- which is important to us since my children are USA swimmers. Is this neighborhood nice? Is the traffic bad coming out of the main entrance? Is there more than one entrance into the neighborhood? How far is it from South Forsyth High School- and is this high school not as good as the others in Alpharetta? Thanks for any info!!!

Deer Lake is nice...not as large of a subdivision as Windward. Windward has many different sections and price ranges in it, and is one of the premier subs in Alpharetta if that is what you want. The road (141, or Peachtree Pkwy) does get very backed up right where the main entrance to Deer Lake is. This is because it goes from 4 to 2 lanes right there. They are currently widening it and that should help. Yes, there is another entrance to Deer Lake. By the way, Peachtree Pkwy is the road that runs right up to S. Forsyth High School. We are very pleased with the South Forsyth system...Windward kids attend a different high school. Almost all the schools in Alpharetta have great reputations.

South Forsyth is good, but not quite as good as Alpharetta high or the other schools nearby (Milton, Chattachoochee, Northview). Centennial is nearby too and it's a little worse than those but still a little better than South Forsyth.

South Forsyth is still a good school, just not quite exceptional like the others.
