thanks JPAtlanta for the reassurance. The area seems nice. After living in Duluth for years and seeing the we lived in plummet post-housing-crash I'm so gun shy of where to live.

Of all the areas you can choose in Atlanta Murphy Candler is one of the safest in terms of keeping home values IMHO and if anything seems a little underpriced compared to surrounding N Buckhead and Brookhaven proper. Plus you can walk to the Marta safely and easily if needed. I always walk to Medical station Marta when flying out of Hartsfield. There are a bunch of neighborhood groups etc if thats you thing.

jpatlanta, would you consider Tennyson Place "Murphy Candler" I always took that area to be the homes immediately surrounding the park off Ashford-Dunwoody, Nancy Creek, etc. Medical Station is the closest MARTA to us too so it sounds like its probably the same area.

You're kind of in "no mans land". Just unincorporated Dekalb. Similar to where we are, but I would think we are fringe Murphy Candler Park residents. We're off of W Nancy Creek, but west of Ashford Dunwoody...almost to Old Johnson's Ferry.

Its a great area and you're buying at a great time. I wouldn't be too worried. If someone asks where I live, I tell them near Murphy Candler Park. For where you are I would say smack dab btwn Sandy Springs and Chamblee, just south of "Pill Hill".
