This is what I hate about the whole gay thing... they feel like their views have to be forced on everyone else and if people don't agree it's a problem.

No doubt Alpharetta will be a prime candidate for charter school status when this whole lawsuit stuff plays itself out.

Haha, wow. I just posted this to see what people's thoughts were. While there are gay people out there who genuinely do force their views on everyone else, most of us do not. I don't necessarily agree with what this young kid was trying to change. However, I do think it's something that could and should be debated. If that particular school would like to change it, then by all means, let them do it. If they choose not to, I would understand.

I'm very sorry that you've had a bad experience with the 'whole gay thing.' However, I can assure you most of us aren't trying to force anything upon you. If you don't agree with my views, then you have the absolute right to disagree and to speak up and address those views. But please, do not forget, gay people are actual people. We are people with feelings, emotions, problems, and rights.

“Don’t mistake my silence for ignorance; don’t mistake my calmness for acceptance. And most of all, don’t mistake my kindness for weakness.”

I don't care if the council decides they want to vote this idea down.

But the fact that the administration tried to shut the idea down altogether is completely unacceptable.

Let the council vote. They should not be able to remove him as president, even if everything they said was true. They should have a system like real democracy, students can get together and try to force a vote of no confidence and have him recalled through a school wide referendum if they want.

This sends and awful message to the students about democracy and how it works. Alpharetta should be ashamed of itself, except for having a student president who would even propose something like this. This young man should be commended, especially considering that he says he is straight. I don't care if he is or not, but it's even more admirable to put yourself on the line to stand up for something that you know is right, even if it doesn't affect you directly.

It's more about letting them live the same way straight people do, without bigoted, ignorant morons holding them down and denying them the same opportunities. You don't have to agree with it. No one is forcing you to. Just don't deny them the same opportunities you have just BECAUSE you don't agree with it.

I have often thought the same thing about the heterosexual crowd. Why do they have to go around forcing their attraction to the opposite sex down everyone's throat? I don't really care if that's their lifestyle choice but is it really necessary to constantly act that way in public??

I just don't understand why they have to parade around in public flaunting their sexuality and demanding that everyone else accept their lifestyle choices. I've even heard some of them claiming they were "born that way." What on earth makes them think that?

With all that kissing and hand-holding in public--why don't they just keep it in the straight bars, clubs, and dance halls?

I blame it on television. And Democrats. They get all the women.
