The British guy has the right idea. This investment is for the future. I hope the reversible lanes never get built. It is a horrible idea and will be an eyesore to the residents of Cobb County. Build LRT and use the money for the reversible lanes to put with the TIA money for the corridor, that way the entire corridor gets built and we don't have to hear Cobb residents complain about how only 1 mile is in the county.

Can't we just leave Cobb County alone? The folks up there have always marched to the beat of a different drummer and it is obvious they are in no mood to have some rail line crammed down their throats.

I would say set their share of the TSPLOST money aside in an interest bearing escrow account. In the short term, you could try shooting some BRT up there to see what people think. If they hate it, it's no big deal to shut it down and move the buses elsewhere.

This also gives Cobb more time to think about what, if anything, they want to do regarding transportation. From what I've read, a lot of people in Cobb are fine with things as they are, other than maybe adding a lane or two here and there. In the event they decide to stick with the status quo they get their money back with interest, and in the meantime the rest of the ATL can go its merry way.

From what I have been seeing these are the people that are likely to vote for the tax

- People from the age of 18-30
- People living ITP
- People living in Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Clayton, Dekalb
- People that already use public transportation

The people that I have meet who are against the tax with way outside of 285

Cobb is not its own state, it is part of the metro area and needs to participate in a metro wide solution to traffic congestion.

Then provide a viable solution and stop whining.

I will probably vote yes on principal, but the TSPLOST as it stands doesn't really do a whole lot for Cobb.

I am not the one whining, that is the residents of Cobb County, who do not know what it measn to be part of a metro area. You wouldn't like my solution for it is too socialist for Georgia.

I would take the money GDOT pledged to the reversible lanes and the money for enhanced transit service to Cobb and create a commuter rail from Downtown Atlanta to Acworth and Cherokee County using existing tracks. Build small rail stations at first with just benches and a simple, small roof, then if the ridership is there build larger stations with walls to protect users from the weather. Then I would build streetcar lines on the major corridors in Cobb County to shuttle people to the rail stations and employment centers.

Why can't Cobb Countians do that according to their own preferences? Cobb is nearly twice as populous as the city of Atlanta and is a massive employment center. Shouldn't these folks have some say in their own future?

I guess the proposed light rail in Cobb isn't a big deal
