I am relatively new to the Atlanta area and have been heavily researching ITP neighborhood options from a schools standpoint (i have two 5 year olds).

I haven't found any reactions about what current Kirkwood residents feel about being rezoned for Jackson HS instead of Grady HS.

How does this change your prospects for the improvement of this neighborhood? Has this significantly altered your long/short term plans?

The neighborhood is split on the issue. Kirkwood was only part of Grady cluster for 5 years. Some feel losing Grady is gonna hurt the neighborhood. My personal opinion is the current redistricting did nothing to alleviate overcrowding at Grady. This will begin to hurt the i mage and test scores as teachers are stretched thin. Jackson is getting a complete rebuild and with the other intown neighborhoods districted for Jackson the schools can make improvements. Most kids in kirkwood are elementary and younger. Another positive is Coan middle school got Dr Bockman, the old Inman middle principle to watch over the improvements at Coan as she did at Inman.
