Anything can be club distric. The thing is would Alphareta or the land owners allow it to be.

Also, 15 minutes from the perimiter is a long drive to party. Then you gotta look at the demographics of the area.

In a million years, I don't think that is what the developer had in mind or the Alpharetta officials.

Rather, they are looking for tip top commercial development to increase their tax revenues.

I wish they would build something like this in Midtown on near all those parking lots near Spring & 14th St

Arjay is just trying to make a ridiculous point.

The point is taken, all things being equal, this would be fine for a party spot. The reason it wouldn't be is because Alpharetta is mostly families and not young people. There also aren't any mass transit options around Alpharetta.

I think what Arjay is driving at is "not in my backyard" trying to say he doesn't want a club district in his backyard and trying to show I wouldn't want it in mine either. I did have it in my backyard in Buckhead when I lived there, and I wouldn't mind it close to my home now, if the area could support it. I at least know the Alpharetta PD isn't a bunch of buffoons who couldn't figure out how to deal with typical every day bar/club issues.

I will be less than 10 minutes from Avalon, I am excited. Hopefully a restaurant/bar that myself and co workers can go to after work.

Developments like this in Atlanta seem to attract satellite locations for successful area restaurant/bars.

The town center in Smyrna has an Atkins Park. Town Brookhaven has a Noche. Hopefully Avalon will get something similar.

In all fairness, why should one little area have veto power over the whole city? It's frequently pointed out that unless Atlanta can get a 24 hour party district going it will never achieve international status.

I don't think the demographics make that much difference. When the crowds were coming to Buckhead, for instance, many revelers lived outside the Perimter or a substantial distance away. Tons of them drove more than 15 minutes.

The Avalon location honestly has a lot going for it. There's ample parking, and the nightlife won't conflict with store hours since it doesn't get underway until after 11 pm. Public transportation shouldn't be an issue either, since very few clubbers use transit.

I guess we'll just see what happens. Party districts tend to occur on their own.

I have a feeling it will be a bit sterile. You may get some Wild Bill/ Club Opera/Halo Loung/ Havana type clubs, and those are good if you have a big progressive house/trance dj playing, but otherwise, it may not have enough grit and dive bars to be a true party distric.

It's a little surprising downtown Alpharetta hasn't developed more of a dive bar scene yet. It's very walkable and has plenty of great old buildings.

I could easily see Milton Street flooded with late night partiers. Maybe Avalon will kick things up a notch.

How the heck is that "very walkable"?
