America's Best Cities for Transit, According to Walk Score - Commute - The Atlantic Cities
Americans are driving 6% less than 2004. Is this a sign that the Millennials, who prefer urban, dense development and mass transit, are changing the commuting patterns of people. Or is the result of the Great Recession?

Or is it both? Or is it neither?

Could it be that more people telecommute? Could it be that more employment centers are opening in areas outside the downtown districts? Ten years ago, were there large employment centers in places like Alpharetta?

I don't think there's a cut-and-dry answer to the question.

Even with these changes -- which are significant -- around 75% of Millennials continue to tool around in their cars.

That's still far too many. The young are most capable of walking, biking and taking transit and they're the ones who should be doing it. Getting another 25% of these youngsters off the roads would dramatically decrease congestion and free up roads and fuel for those of us who truly need and/or prefer to drive.
