I am interested in the relocating to a nearby suburb of Atlanta. I'm in my mid 20's and my fiance and I are interested in being close enough to the city to enjoy the benefits of work and play. I've heard that the northern suburbs are nicer? I was wondering if Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area was a good area? I'm open to anything really, just want to make the most informed choice! I would greatly appreciate any feedback i can get

That's an excellent area with alot of traffic. Also, the homes are ridiculously priced, but condos and townhomes might be doable. Most likely though you will want to look now and keep your eye out in case the market starts to shift and they go up in price again. Rentals might not be too bad either. Look in the 30350, 30328, 30360(not sure on this one but I think) and the 30338 zip codes.

30360 is parts of unincorporated Norcross on the Dunwoody border and also parts of Dunwoody around the Tilly Mill area. 30338 is Dunwoody's main zip code. I used to live in 30350 -- an area w/million dollar homes set next to $150k townhomes and apartment complexes.

Depends on what you want to buy.

If you want to buy a house in Sandy Springs, be wary that they are expensive. Sandy Springs has an enormous amount of multi-million dollar mansions and estates, and even the normal houses are pricey.

But scattered around various parts of Sandy Springs you'll also find townhouses and apartments, which can be pretty cheap.

Yup, in 30350 when I purchased my townhome in 2004, I paid $77,500. 1.5 blocks away they had a new construction subdivision w/$800k homes.
