Does anyone know how much it costs to park downtown? If my husband drives downtown to work each day, what is the average monthly rate for a parking garage?

Depends. There are surface lots that are $5/day, and garages that an run $25/day. Have you checked with his employer to see if they have free or discounted Parkin available for employees? I work downtown, and we have reserved spots in our garage, and those who don't get reserved spots get parking passes to park for free in the surface lot across the street.

I pay $50/month. Anyone who pays $25 a day better be getting free oil changes and car wash/detail service.

$25/day sounds high but I am sure it exists. That is even high for DC where I am now. I am trying to assess my husband's potential commute. Trying to weigh East Cobb vs Sandy Springs/Dunwoody.

$25 a day is absolutely NOT the norm. BobKovaks doesn't know what he's talking about.

I'm sorry- where exactly did I say it was "the norm"? Your $50/month may not be "the norm" either- it depends on where in downtown the person will be working, as lot and garage prices vary significantly. I park all over downtown and midtown for client meetings, and parking rates are hit or miss.

Look at the Morningside or Ansley Park neighborhoods if you can deal with living inside 285. The one issue I have had with Dunwoody (driving through it, I have never lived there) are that there aren't many arteries in and out of it with more than 1 lane of traffic.

I have not driven around enough of Sandy Springs or East Cobb to give you a good opinion.

Living in town will give you the option of avoiding the downtown connector.

The parking lot where Macy's use to be is 55 a month. It ideal if you work in the peachtree center complex or 191 tower

It looks like his office will most likely be by the Five Points MARTA station. Does anyone know the monthly cost of parking in that area?
