What would be the best area or neighborhood in midtown atlanta? Price range 600K to 900K. I live in Dacula and I'm trying to help someone fine an area. I know Buckhead is one but is there another I should suggest?

Try Ansley Park or Brookwood Hills.

It all depends on what you, or your friend is looking for in terms of location. What is the definition of upscale and how close do they want to be from work? In my opinion - if you are going to be spending some money - who wants to commute a long distance?

If you are going to be in Buckhead and the surrounding area - Brookhaven has lots of new construction. In fact, I just showed some lovely homes in the area that were just under $900K.

As someone mentioned - Ansley Park is very nice too. However, prices can be very high there. According to the multiple listing service - a 4 bedroom 3 full home is listed for $875K and the most expensive listing is listed for $2.95 million.

I live in Inman Park and we have some great new builds in Inman Park Village. The community has free standing cluster type homes to brownstone condos. I am working on a deal for a new construction 3 story brownstone with an elevator in the low $700K range. One of the builder's is top notch and is building a great product. Check out Inman Park Village at Inman Park Village.

If your friend needs a good school district, I would recommend Decatur (City), Briarcliff area (Lakeside High), and Sarah Smith (Buckhead). Of course there are many more schools to choose from. A great website is greatschool.net.

Do they want a highrise? Square footage is at a premium in Midtown but there are some new projects coming up such as 1010 Midtown and Lux Atlanta.

Hope that this starts a beginning in the search! Let me know if I can assist.

Thanks for the advise. Its actually my sister and what she is looking for is an area that she can be near restaurant, shopping and be able to walk to some of them. They've always liked mid town living and schools for the kids would be private catholic. Price range could be anywhere from 600k to 900k. I keep hearing that many of the nice areas are near bad ones but I just want to drive by them so I could guide her better. They've always had houses over 5000 sf but she wants something smaller (3000)and not alot of maintenance.
Thanks again for the help
