They are pretty much one in the same. I own off of Spalding close to Pitts road and if you turn one direction its Dunwoody, but go the otyher direction its Sandy Springs. Both are fairly residential and very close to Buckhead if driving either on 400 or Roswell Rd. To me its the best of both worlds. You get really good metro/suburban living within minutes of downtown. But both areas can get a little pricey if buying a home.

I rented an apartment in Perimeter Center. It was convenient all the restaurants and retail. The MARTA stations come in handy when trying to get downtown. Roswell Road has a lot of choices, but its more older strip malls than the new lifestyle centers of Perimeter Center.

I would say that both are very similar as far as lifestyle and amenities go. They border each other and to me when you're driving around it's very difficult to tell when you're in Sandy Springs vs Dunwoody. The only major difference is that one is in Fulton county and the other is in Dekalb county.

Residential areas - A draw.
Commercial areas - Dunwoody, far and away.

This would lead me to believe that Sandy Springs probably has better public schools. Would that be a correct assumption to draw?

From what I have heard both have good schools. As I do not have scholl aged kids I dont know from personal experience. But I have overheard my neighbors talking when I was at home one weekend.

Not necessarily. Austin and Vanderlyn in particular are excellent elementary schools.

Right, from what I've seen Dunwoody - especially elementary - schools are on a highler level that Sandy Springs. When we were looking there a few years back, home values that were zoned for those seemed to reflect their value as well.
